Scrabbling About
It was a fractured Friday, doing lots of bits and pieces. I started off in relaxed mode, having a latte and toasted teacake at The Exchange and starting on the next book club novel while the cleaners were at the house. No sooner was I back indoors than my brother-in-law phoned to discuss the current round of solicitor correspondence about transferring the bungalow into my sole ownership. After a ten-minute chat, I went straight back out to get my Covid jab at the local pharmacy and stopped off at Tesco to buy something for lunch and take somewhat of an emergency blip of flowers on display. Having got home again and eaten my meal, I was off up the road to the regular games afternoon for a couple of rounds of Scrabble. It’s an enjoyable way to spend two hours, and it keeps the brain ticking over. We drew at one game each. After that I collected a parcel from the pick up point and stopped off at Asda to get some shower spray. Back home I put on a load of towels in the washing machine, and was grateful that the tumble dryer decided to work (it’s an intermittent fault, which I think is a loose connection inside the control panel - must get someone along to fix it next week). I’ve now had tea and am collapsed on the sofa at 10pm with a sore arm. At least we will get an extra hour in bed on Sunday morning.
