Engines Roaring
FRIDAY
I spent an enjoyable 90 minutes this morning at the East Parade Bowling Club, playing a friendly game with Paul and Gareth. It was an evenly matched game.
This afternoon, I headed over to Llandudno, which was buzzing with excitement. The town is hosting the Cambrian Rally, and rally cars of all types were roaring through the town centre on their way to the Victoria Shopping Centre’s multi-story car park where the scrutineering was taking place ahead of tomorrow's official start.
One of the rally’s highlights is the participation of legend Stig Blomqvist who is here to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his 1984 World Rally Championship win, competing in a specially prepared 1964 Mini Cooper S. Unfortunately, I didn’t spot him today.
The car in the photo is an ex-JWRC M-Sport Ford Fiesta R2 driven by Sven Grube - a 22-year old local social media star and rally driver.
On the drive home the evening light was amazing - see extra.
