Autumn in the garden
I love the autumn colours... I really love the absurdly colourful Acers and look forward to another day of splendid colour tomorrow at Westonbirt, but there's something about British colours too...
This is one of the beeches that divides our front garden from the village playing field. It's almost smiling a gorgeous golden grin of autumn leaves. We planted them as rootstock a few years back, and while I intended them to be a hedge a couple of them have aspirations of tree-dom.
After twelve weeks of constant building work we are about to enjoy a week free of it. Well, almost. Because we ran into some feature creep, our builder has been pushing other jobs back, and next week he needs to be elsewhere in the village.
However, it's a chance for me to get more directly involved, and get a couple of layers of pre-paintwork misting done on the new and now dry plaster. The screed only went down yesterday, so it'll be Monday before I dare walk on it, then it's all hands to the roller.
But I have a weekend to get through first. :-)
I haven't used many extras recently, so please do enjoy this wonderful shaggy ink cap we encountered on our walk this morning.
