renovation

Thunder and lightning not long after I got up. A bit of housework, a very short walk and the setting up of my 'new toy' which I mentioned a few days ago - a new laptop.

The photo is of one of the many properties in the village which were 'mothballed' when the University of Cumbria decided to close the Ambleside campus. Lots of  buildings (new and old) were boarded up. This is one of 6 cottages on a lane used frequently by fell walkers  -  many larger properties are on the main route north out of the village. 

Now the students are returning and the buildings are being  brought back into use. Here, at the cottage once lived in by the caretaker, the boards have just been removed from the windows and renovation work started.
