Moody

Everyone Chez Wildwood was sort of moody this morning. Blake, thank goodness, is much better, but he's a fairly old dog and knowing his history, I feel a little as if we're waiting for the other shoe to drop. But I also know that every other time this has happened, the antibiotics have worked.

I had a good session with Kathy this morning, having taken advantage of a last minute cancellation. John stayed home with the dogs and waited for the dishwasher repair guy to come. Kathy worked a lot of the kinks out of my back and we decided to try a half inch heel lift (instead of a quarter inch one). I enjoyed the drive over there, although it took longer than I expected to get over Fountaingrove because they had closed a road and I had to go around.

On the way home I stopped by Dana and Jim's to feed Sassy, the three legged cat, and water Dana's plethora of pots. Sassy was weaving figure eights around my legs until I finally picked her up and sat with her on my lap for awhile. I couldn't do it for as long as I would have liked because their heat is turned off and the house is freezing cold. Next time I go, if it's as cold as it has been in the mornings as it has been, I'll take her outside with me when I water the pots. It's quite warm outside.

Back home the dishwasher repair man* was busy taking a rubber band out of the drain, and checking the pipes. He was much more interested in the dogs and made quite a big deal of them, than he was in the idiots who couldn't even fish a rubber band out of the drain. I did look in there, and asked him to show me exactly where it was, which he did rather grudgingly. He didn't comment on how old it is (which it is by current appliance standards). He grudgingly moved his truck so John could get the car out to go get his hair cut, and I grudgingly paid him the rather astonishing amount of money he asked for. They charge a standard rate just to ring the doorbell.

The dogs' behavior was exemplary...Spike in his customary spot by the couch with his Kong and Blake on his bed on the other side of the room watching with varying degrees of interest.

The cold nights and balmy days continue and we are all beginning to wonder if it will rain soon to end the fire season. Heavy rain is being predicted for the PNW but it may not quite make it as far south as the Bay Area. I'll take the warm weather for a little bit longer....
