Ostensoir

Today we went to Dol-de-Bretagne by train. There was an apple event on in the community centre there which was very interesting and then afterwards we went for a walk around the town. It's a small town and not super exciting but it does have a nice big cathedral built by John, King of England and Duke of Normandy. The main blip is the Ostensoir (whatever one of those is) in treasure display. The extra is a B&W treatment of the interior.

Outside the front there is a 3 tonne boat carved from granite which represents the myth of the founding of Brittany by the Welsh and one of the early saints who arrived in a stone boat. On the side there is a well which can be accessed from either side of the wall, and has a tunnel 9 metres down which connects the two well shafts!

After a look round we went along the high street (which is pretty) and had something to drink in a cafe before returning to Saint-Malo by train.

Back blip.
