From Bohinj to Budapest

The past three days in Bohinj have been quite draining. We pack up, put the rubbish in the bins, and drive off into the rain.

We stop at Bohinja Bistrica for shopping. At the large Mercator I buy blueberry liqueur (full of blueberries) and pumpkin seed oil (dark and tasty) [extra].

Next, a local walnut bowl as a birthday present for Alice. As she wraps it, the store owner asks "is it a gift for a man or a woman?" When I tell her, she adds a rustic string to the packaging [extra].

Finally to the bakery to buy burek for lunch - one meat, one spinach, two cheese.

We arrive at Gáspár's in Budapest just after 4. He and Adrienn have childcare responsibilities for the rest of the afternoon, so I grab a key and go for a walk.

This area of Buda is leafy and suburban. There are rail lines and trams, but generally well hidden. I do find Tesco, Aldi, KFC and many other retail opportunities, but not a single bar!

I get what I hope is a nice bottle of wine from Aldi, top price from the top shelf... 2999 Hungarian florints = £6.20

And then back to Gáspár's for dinner.
