Travel day. After barely scratching the delights of Kyoto in four jam-packed days, it’s time to go. We jumped on the bullet train (most exciting) to Nagoya and met with Nancy’s brother, who happens to live in neighbouring Gifu. It’s been about a year since we last saw him (and a shit ton has happened in that time including the passing of m’old dad and Aunty K), but it’s also flown-by. He was in good spirits and treated us to lunch at veggie friendly Yamamotoya Okute in Okutecho, before directing us back to our hotel. We’re off out tonight to meet and eat at Shinjidai Meieki Honten with another ex-pat and chum, Stuart. He lives locally and is lead singer ofJapanese punk sensation, Star Cat. I’m sure you know them well.
