Aberystwyth

Decided to have a day out in Aberystwyth today. Caught the 9.30 train, which arrived at 11.15. Wonderful journey through Wales, I could really enjoy the scenery, I normally drive, so miss a lot of it.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was a good breeze blowing. I headed straight to the promenade, which was covered in about 6 inches of sand - the result of yesterday's storm. The sea was just magical. Quite rough and big breakers crashing onto the beach. I managed to get a paddle in.
I walked along to the funicular railway and jumped aboard to the top of the hill. The view was incredible. I stopped for a cup of coffee.
Back down the hill to find a restaurant that I had been recommended - 'Y gornel' - about a ten minute walk away. Delicious food. I had a smoked haddock risotto.
Back to the beach and a breezy walk to the end of the pier. Finally, I walked round to the monument and sat on one of the seats, just staring at the beautiful sea. I was reluctant to leave. It had been such a fabulous day.
