Horse shoe...
I'll not go into detail about my feelings on shoeing horses...
This shoe was removed from this hoof by one of the students today. Then the hoof was trimmed to its natural parameters... No carving, just following the natural constants of the hoof. Then the shoe was placed back on the trimmed hoof.
The hoof contains many natural arches which provide strength, there are active and passive areas of wear.
Here is a clear example of the passive areas of the hoof, the arch of the quarters. Unfortunately, when a shoe is applied, all this is lost.
Today our 3 day Hoofing workshop came to an end. It was an amazing time and the participants were fabulous people and fully engaged and, I think, a little mind blown ❤️
Unfortunately my sailing home to Gorgeous was a little more 'exciting' than if have liked but I eventually arrived just an hour or so later than planned.
