Rosedale Chimney
We walked along the old railway track above Rosedale Abbey , Bank Top which was once a hive of industry related to the iron ore found here . A process took place in the kilns here and then it was shipped to be smelted at Middlesbrough . It’s hard to imagine men walked from as far away as Cornwall to work here in the nineteenth century .
Now it’s simply wild, barren and beautiful . It was also extremely windy today !
We ended the afternoon with a fat rascal and a cuppa at Runswick Bay ( definitely glad I won’t be tempted by these when I’m back on my diet at home ! :) ) .
We spent a happy couple of hours looking for sea glass and didn’t notice how far the tide had crept in ! Whoops ! Wet feet as we climbed round the edge of the slip way !
