Tavistock Canal
It was a very wet start to the day. We waited until the rain had stopped in the late morning before heading out on a walk.
We decided to start by walking along the old railway route and the viaduct in town with good views down to the town. We then walked down to the canal following it through woodlands all the way to the other viaduct over the River Lumburn. The canal was built to transport copper from the mines around Tavistock to the port of Morwellham on the River Tamar.
We returned back to our hotel for a late snack before heading out to a tapas bar for an early dinner. It was an enjoyable meal that was eaten early as l was going to a concert my sister had booked tickets for some time ago.
We were seeing Seth Lakeman who had been performing the Kitty Jay 20th Anniversary Tour at various locations throughout the year and its last performance was at the Wharf in Tavistock. I hadn’t heard of him before but l certainly enjoyed the bands performance. My sister had a good time as she knew his numbers and had seen him perform before.
An enjoyable day and evening.
