Out and About

Norber Erratics

Visiting friend P in Austwick, she took me for a walk round some interesting spots on the local hills. The Norber Erratics is a plateau of boulders, some sitting on limestone legs like this one.   Erratic means they are out of place.  The limestone is what you would expect, not limestone with boulders of sandstone/slate  on the top.  MrGoogle tells me there are over 100 erratic boulders here ( I didn't attempt to count) and one of the best examples in England.   Extras- me next to the boulder for scale and one of the many waxcaps in the area. A very lovely hot sunny day - storm forecast tomorrow
