Nature Diary.. in the garden

A beautiful day today, sunny and warm, a day spent peacefully pottering in the garden.
The photo on the left shows the seedheads of this summer's Aquilegia which has been in our garden for several years and which we leave untouched just where the seed heads choose to stay. So far the result has been a self-seeded absolutely  wonderful display the following year of all sorts of different coloured Aquilegia flowers. Here's hoping the same glorious display of flowers they always produce occurs again next year.

The other photo shows three brave little Nigella flowers successfully flowering in the long grass despite the fact we are now in the month of October!

The extra photo is this year's flowers from last year's Aquilegia self-sewn seeds (first blipped on May10th this year)
