A wander round the Glebe
Up around 7.30 and straight into the shower. Ottawacker Jr. feeling much better today, so he’s going back to school. Hopefully, we will now get a clear run of good health from the boy.
Started the day catching up on some blips, and then attacked the laundry before heading down to the Glebe for coffee and a catch-up with my friend Kristin. Kristin is quite possibly one of the most accomplished people I know. She and I used to work together at FCM and, I am glad to say, we’ve kept in touch and she has been the source of a couple of contracts for me. Her husband, Allen Egan, is also an excellent artist; he’s a little too original for my own staid version of what constitutes art, but even I can admire his use of colour and imagery. Anyway, we had a good chat and caught up on various families and friends.
Walking around the Glebe is usually pretty interesting. It is a nice neighbourhood – reasonably European compared to many others in the city. I picked up a couple of records (3 for $5 – can’t beat that, I thought, even though my record player is currently out of commission), and then found in the recycling of a house a series of Cormac McCarthy books that had been thrown out. When will people learn never to throw out books? So I picked up the six of them and put them in the car. Then home. Had a Skype catch up with Mark in London, which was over too fast. Decided Ottawacker Jr. wasn’t well enough to go to soccer practice, caught up with a little work, and then, before I knew it, the day was over.
