The thing about Friday is that it immediately follows Thursday, that being the day when the civic duty of helping to keep the local pub open for business comes around and I reluctantly stay there until they send me home. Someone has to do it.
So it started slowly but there's things to do. That desk needs to be joined, sanded, primed, painted and varnished so today was joining, which is more of problem than I anticipated when I set about making the thing. If I could install it and then do the filling at the join and sanding etc it would be no problem but there's a furnished room and two wee cats to consider - sanding being both noisy and, however good your dust collection, messy. With the help of a long piece of steel box section and long clamps it is joined with glue, biscuits and screws and capable of being moved with limited flexing. Put some epoxy filler along the join today and I'll see how well it holds up to movement tomorrow. If that doesn't work I have another plan that I can try.
