Telephone, Ephone, Thurnham

Just popped out today for a quick drink at the Black Horse in Thurnham. In it's car park it has this classic red telephone box. Unfortunately, it no longer has an actual telephone in it. However, there were, bizarrely, two traffic cones in it instead! We thoroughly enjoyed our drink in this very atmospheric pub but too soon it was time to head home as I had the evening meal to prepare. 
I thought I'd try something new so went with Lime Pickle & Pumpkin Curry with Spiced Cabbage. It was supposed to be Hipsi cabbage but our supermarket didn't have any so I had to pick a normal cabbage instead. It's, of course, pumpkin season so I presumed there would be a lot of them in the shops but most of them here are the huge ones for sculpting rather than eating. In fact I only found one 1kg one in the actual supermarket itself. It took a while to prepare all the ingredients but it was worth the effort as it tasted really nice (and it was veggie!). It's now another dish in my armoury and I will certainly make it again but just add one or two tweaks.
The other reason for choosing this image was that I got a telephone call, out of the blue, from an old work colleague that I hadn't spoken to in years. He retired a few years ago so I wasn't sure he even had my number anymore. It was so nice to hear from him and learning what he's been up to. He'd met up recently with some of my ex fellow photographers and told me that my old workplace is not a happy one. There seems to be a lot of cost cutting and general disorganisation which does not sound good at all. I'm just hoping it's not causing everyone too much stress and unhappiness. On a happier note he did suggest we all get together soon for a drink and a chinwag so I'll make sure to try and arrange something with them.
