Sgwarnog: In the Field

dancing through summer

The flowers of what I think is Creeping Thistle are just beginning to emerge, and it seems there's nothing that the butterflies like more.

Although not a strong image in itself, I've selected this as it captures something of the density of the butterflies on our local patch of the moor. In this small spot you have a Small Tortoiseshell and Meadow Brown and several Small Skippers (if you view large, you can count them). The Ringlets are the most numerous and were flitting all around as I took this. All of which makes recording quite tricky.

The sun returned this afternoon after two and a half days of cloud and relative cool. Now we're waiting for the thunder.
