Flights of Water

This wonderful flight of locks on the Ille et Rance Canal is near Hédé-Bazouges in Brittany. 

We'll say farewell to France tonight, but the weather has been kind, atmosphere friendly and our hosts Adam and Véronique such lovely company.

There are many miles of canals in France, many still carrying goods and most in good condition and used for leisure craft as well. I'm always impressed by canals in any country  - so much ingenuity and sheer physical effort in their creation yet many have not been maintained to benefit from either commercial or leisure use.
