Edinburgh
Apologies for going AWOL for a couple of days while on holiday. Here are some photos taken on Day 2 when Mrs CBL and I visited Edinburgh in glorious sunshine.
On arrival we walked along Princes Street to the St James Centre where a few shops were entered! We then climbed up Calton Hill to see the views over the city.
Later we walked down to the Botanical Gardens escaping as far as possible from the madding crowds.
It was a most enjoyable away day. The gardens are stunning and we could have spent the whole day in there lost in our own wee world. We liked the Chinese Hill Garden and the Rock Garden best. Our only disappointment was that the Glasshouses were closed for restoration. Maybe one day, when the work is completed, we will return. If we do then we definitely will just spend the day in there!!!
Extras if you’d like to see more of the capital city …
The National Gallery, which proudly boasts it is free to enter but we didn’t on this occasion! Not often we pass up on a bargain!
The view at the top of the hill looking over the Botanic Gardens and across the River Forth to Fife. We walked down to the gardens but took the bus back up!
The Chinese Hill Garden and glimpses from the Rock Garden.
