Chain and Shadow

As we carried our morning hot drinks to the outside bench I noticed this chain and shadow. The chain holds the cellar door open in the summer.
The sun is still fairly low so the shadow is only slightly longer than the chain.
Each morning that we can sit outside, feeling the  warmth of the sun on our faces, seems a gift. In September it felt fairly normal but as the year advances the gift becomes more precious.
