Confused Cranes
This morning at breakfast, I heard the distinctive bugle call of cranes. I went out into the garden, looking north-east, expecting to see a flock of cranes on their way to Southern France or Spain, where they are staying over winter.
But this group was coming from the west, flying very low, and eastwards. I just managed this one snapshot, before they disappeared behind a neighbouring house. It‘s a rather crappy photo, but the first crane migration I have seen this season, and an odd one.
Perhaps the mild weather is confusing them, or they got lost inside the thick stratus clouds over the Rhein-Main region. Once again, we never saw the sun today.
