Goosle Goslings: Taking the Lead(ish)
Better in large ("L").
Another day out with the teleconverter; I'm still v. impressed with the results which bodes well! I know that they're fickle (they like some lens models but not others) but the 1.4x with the 70-200mm seems a very happy pairing.
I visited Eagle Pond and Long Pond this afternoon: the Goosles were grazing in the long grass which provided lots of opportunities. The funniest moment was when the two goslings could no long reach the grass heads in a tall stand of grass, so stood straight up (like bottles) and took to jumping to reach the tall grass heads! It was adorable and they looked very silly indeed. When in the water, the goslings now take the lead: they're still very aimless though and swim about getting distracted by flies, fishers' lines, and each other...
The mother mallard on Long Pond still has her 10 ducklings which is good! They were diving under the surface a lot, and resting in the shade; they were obviously struggling with the heat which is understandable... I went for an iced coffee after getting thoroughly frazzled (even though I stay in the shade...) and saw crows by Clapham Common tube who were really struggling with the heat: they were standing in the shade with their beaks open and panting... I was v. tempted to blip a crow (with colourful background bokeh), but I've put it up on blipfolio as my alternative.
Other teleconverter shots:
