Seize the moment.

This Scarlet Firestorm up the road has been catching my eye for a week or so. It is possibly on the point of turning so today seems as good a time as any to capture it.

One has to take these opportunities when you can. I was so glad that a month ago today I made a trip to County Durham for lunch with a great friend from university days. Our friendship was bonded in the struggles of consecutive interpretation from French ( her other language was German: mine was Russian). It is fair to say we each struggled at times!

We had a lovely lunch and planned to meet up again once she had undergone her next phase of chemotherapy which was due to start the following week.
Sadly that was not to be. Her cancer was too far advanced for further treatment. She had been in good form though since then but suddenly on Saturday morning she deteriorated and passed away. So sad for her family and grandchildren but many happy memories over 50 years.

Made me realise - again - the importance of not putting off catch ups until it is too late.
