“The Wait” St Ives

We parked up in St Ives after breakfast walking along the Great Ouse to Houghton Mill and back to St Ives through the two Chocolate Box villages of Hemmingford Abbots and Hemmingford Grey.

In view of the flooding on the Great Ouse last week we wondered if the footpath was passable. It was fine, even though there was plenty of water in the river and the floodplains were living up to their name.

Houghton Mill is a working watermill owned by the National Trust. We have visited in the past so just stopped for a coffee and shared scone before returning through the Hemmingsfords to St Ives.

A quick and untroubled journey back to Kent. What a splendid weekend although I feel rather deflated now we were home. It was such a good weekend, good variety and a great day at the festival yesterday. At £10 a ticket, it was great value for 11 hours of entertainment
