Ben McDui? It’s a Cairngorm anyway
We had a really pleasant evening meeting Jo’s friends at the drinks do. It’s interesting so many people seem to be moving up there now they can work from home.
We had a very cold night in the van as we don’t like to leave the heating on overnight.
I woke to find my cold had progressed to a hacking cough and a lost voice. The runny nose and sneezing are unrelenting.
I thought after I was up and dressed and had breakfast I’d be up for the day’s plans to visit Elgin then move along to Aberdour to a nice spot by the sea that we’d used in the past. However I still felt bleh and couldn’t face wandering around or having a seaside walk. It was a mutual decision to just head home as Mr C wasn’t in the mood either.
The journey back was much easier than the one north on Friday as the road was quieter and there was no hold-up at roadworks near Kingussie, or on the Edinburgh by-pass. It was also a pretty drive amid the autumn colours with the snowy mountains beyond. There must have been more snow in the east as Ben Wyvis was really covered whereas the Cairngorms had a lighter covering .
It’ll be lovely get the Rayburn on and have a relaxing couple of days to follow as I’d made no plans, expecting still to be up north.
I’m not sure which Cairngorm this is but it was taken from the car on A9
