Still............
An early cancellation from Jos. We along with Sandy were going to nip up to Exeter Ikea this morning but Jos was'nt feeling good so postponed til next Sunday.
Started the morning with a few of the dementia challenges .. finding Mum's pyjamas that she was wearing last night, that was after removing the bag of porridge oats, sugar bowl, & bottle of milk from the dining table, & putting away 3 mugs. Made breakfast for Mum - porridge, creamy of course :-), toast, & coffee. While eating her porridge I took down the bathroom, spare bedroom, & lounge net curtains. Got them going with a Vanish cycle. Put away the washing on the airer. Made her toast, then got ready to walk Indie. A lovely walk around the heath, very still, but not as cold as I anticipated. More fabulous fungi. What a year! A feast for some of the wildlife, many have been nibbled. Squirrels, deer, foxes??? Bumped into one of the CK locals, he's amazing. Walks everyday for miles. His 89th birthday tomorrow. Lived in the village all his life. He's got all the gossip, & can he gossip. I could'nt get away from him. "Brian, I've gotta go". "So have I" So he kept talking all the way back into the village. Telling me the price of property for sale as we entered the village, value, etc..... Lol!!
Back at base, pegged out the nets, cleaned the windows & upvc frames. Next coffee, lemon drizzle slice & an hour spent on the latest jigsaw. It's a 1000 piece, with very little progress, & 75% looking very similar we decided to pack it back in the box & return it to whence it came. Alison, who kindly bought it for a neighbour, but who has gone into care can pass it on if she chooses or give to a charity shop which where she got it from. Not 100% sure all the outer edge pieces were there anyway. We certainly did'nt find them. I made Mum a roast lamb lunch, & apple crumble with fruit from the freezer. While that was cooking we rehung the nets. Lunch served, Indie fed, I headed home to Chudleigh. Late lunch with hubby. Had a look at Sunday's crossword, filling in the answers that came to mind immediately .. I'll go back later & a few more will jump out at me, then probably look again tomorrow morning & know more. Different parts of the brain off hire.
I've got Delia's braised red cabbage with apple in the oven .. braising, ;-) along with a joint of pork, dinner tonight before Strictly.
Strictly results tonight .. a couple of dodgy dances last night
I now have evening care for Mum. 5 nights a week at present 8-9pm. This was the first week. Obviously a little difficult for the first couple of evenings but now accepted fortunately. I might increase to 7 nights. 2-3 carers maximum which is important with Mum's dementia. Yesterday she asked who were my family ;-(. Mum still had her sense of humour, which I think I inherited so we're taking each day as it comes, normally have a jigabout thrown in while making breakfast, which is always good for a giggle. I'm trying to teach Mum the Grapevine but she's not taking me seriously. x
