Golden days
The town is looking very colourful in this golden time, but we have been having strong winds and heavy rain and the leaves are falling......
Our walking club has been on a break to Oban. We did not book on this year, but one of our number, and a friend, had an accident. The club were crossing to Kerrerra, an island very close to Oban, just a five minute ferry. The ferry is a small one which only takes 12 passengers, therefore the fitter members, who were doing an eight mile walk on the island, crossed first, with the others taking turns later.
June's husband, Bob, crossed with the first batch and set off on their long walk. And in her turn June crossed to do the shorter walk to the castle and back. She slipped on some wet stuff, and ended up having to be transported by helicopter to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The helicopter took 20 minues to arrive from Glasgow with the paramedics on board, but Bob and the other party knew nothing of this as they were already on the trail. When Bob came back to the ferry he was told of the mishap, and crossed to Oban and caught a train back to Glasgow to be with her. The club had another night in Oban before returning. It's all go.
June has been in hospital since Wednesday but is hoping to be home today. She has damaged herself quite badly but hasn't broken any bones, her eyes, her face, her side and her chest are all affected. But we reckon she will live. Thank the Lord!
Had my flu jab today, so all ready for the winter weather.
