Walking to Newhailes

It was our strolling day, and the planned walk was from The Meadows to Newhailes Estate, near Musselburgh. We had a good crowd including a number of visitors from London and Cambridge. This is a route that we would normally cycle along, but walking was good too.
We had a good lunch in The Donkey Field Orchard, then took a riverside walk to the estate.  The most surprising thing is that we arrived dry! However there was a heavy hailstorm while we had an ice cream in the dairy.
We caught the bus back, and are resting before a house warming tonight.
