I drove up the hill

I was up early but not wanting to leave the house until the sky improved. It was a cloudy start with the promise of sunshine, so I thought it best to keep occupied, then be off with my camera as the morning brightened. My strategy worked!
I drove across the north river and up the hill to the Paul Lake Provincial Park. I wasn't surprised to find the sign has been removed and the toilets locked, but the gate was open so I invited myself in to the lake front.
Along the way I was looking for colour and light. I took shots all around me. The deciduous trees are very showy, especially along the lake in reflection. The lake was calm and it was a cool 2 C there this morning.
A small squadron of Canada geese were paddling together near the shoreline. Suddenly, a squabble erupted in their ranks with individuals chasing others with a great deal of noise and commotion. They settled their differences and continued their trek.
On the return home, I spotted a little herd of white-tailed deer on a grassy slope. I stopped and rolled down my car window for these shots. Traffic really whizzes by on this route, in spite of it being winding and narrow. A big truck startled this herd but I managed a couple of shots before they disappeared into the tree line.
I caught two horses basking in the sunshine. They stood with their eyes closed and did not give me the slightest bit of attention.
I came home with my breakfast. My daughter was making my Mother's recipe for turkey stuffing. I could smell it before I opened the door. We are at the start of our Thanksgiving weekend. I plan to have my feet up for the rest of the day.
