John O'Groats Trail
Final day of walking. Caught the first bus towards Wick and alighted at Keiss on the east coast. Then followed the John O’Groats trail north to its terminus. The scenery was reminiscent of our Shetland week in June, lots of sheer cliffs, geos, arches. Not many birds though I was moving fast so probably missed them. Just a kestrel, buzzard, rock pigeons, hoodies, gannets and cormorants.
A couple of ruined castles and brochs punctuated a fantastic lonely coastline, not a soul was seen until closer to Duncansby but by then the Stacks were the attention seekers.
Bus back to Thurso.
For World Mental Health Day, it was affirming.
