Pateley Bridge

Had a drive around the Nidder Valley today.Some pleasant scenery and not much else.The picture is what claims to be the oldest sweet shop in England and is the only reason to visit Pateley Bridge.Dismal with nothing to offer.
A visit to Skipton Castle was very good.Interesting with a good cafe and shop.Like so many of our small towns across the country Skipton looks tired with too many shops boarded up.

On returning to the hotel we decided we just couldn't face another night and checked out early.Wish we had just booked three nights in Whitewell and stayed in Lancashire.

If you wish to avoid the Yorkshire hotel it was The Sportsman in Wath.
