Hit the North

First train from Haymarket to Perth, stuck inexplicably for 10mins in central Fife, missed Inverness connection, wandered Perth streets for two hours till next train. Burnt another two hours in Inverness before catching the 2pm to Kinbrace.
Arriving at 5pm I would not have won any awards if I’d been competing in the Race Across The World.

Ollie Hof met me on the platform, the battered ex-RAF 1990 Land Rover ambulance waiting to drive me for the final 9miles to my destination at the Garvault House.

It claims to be the most remote hotel in mainland Britain. Believable.

I was the only guest.
