Down by the riverside (gardens)

This tree sits a few hundred yards downhill from our house, on the edge of the local cemetery.  The cemetery is a remarkable place.  There are elaborate tombs housing the great and good of the town - mainly Victorian, including the family whose 1832 mustard factory has been converted into homes, one of which we now live in.

But even more remarkable, in my view, are the trees - vast specimens of Yew and Beech, far older than the grave markers.  Back in March, I blipped the Giant Redwoods - relative newcomers compared with the others.

There is another tree I’m quite excited about (see extra).  It’s a lot younger than the others and the leaves look very similar to one I saw last year in Grappenhall Gardens, near Warrington. Anniemay blipped me banging on about it to some ducks. (see 2nd extra).

I’ll have to keep my eye on it.
