Spectacular

The northern lights put on a show tonight. What a mind-blowing thing to see. This was only my second time ever seeing them; the first was also this year. But this time it was more brilliant and colorful.

Of course, it didn't look like this to the naked eye. The green looked like the glow of a far-away city, only green. The red was a subtle pink above that. Though this red band was brighter and easier to see with my eyes.

I drove a few miles out of town to get this view. I pulled over on the side of the road and set up my camera. It also gave me the opportunity to set up the new reflective safety triangles I bought before our road trip to New Hampshire. They gave me peace of mind since there's a truck stop nearby, and plenty of trucks passed by as I photographed the sky.
