In Lieu Of Rent

Instead of paying money I fix up the house. Today I pecked away at the front, and I bared the old granite garden border which hasn't been seen in at least thirty years.

This is what it looked like a year ago.

There is a point along the way when a house is being restored, when your stripping-down stops making the thing look worse, and your building-up starts making it look better. I think i reached that point today. Removing most of the bushes and exposing the stone were major hurdles, but the crown molding and primer above made a huge difference.

Next I tear apart a section of the porch's roof & ceiling (where the boards are missing), where I must do some long-overdue repairs. After that, the aging handyman climbs toward the sky and gives the house its face back.
