Yesterday in La Villa...

Villaviciosa here is usually just called La Villa, and this was it yesterday. Main is the frontage and terrace of the Hotel Casa España ("House of Spain"), so called because the building of which you can just see a fragment to its far left is the former house of the Dukes of Hevia, where Charles 1st of Spain spent his first night in Spain. His navigator had been aiming for Santander but missed, and Charles was landed at a fishing village, Tazones, so unworthy that Charles had to be rapidly airlifted (well, possibly sedan chairlifted) to Villaviciosa. The house of the Hevias declined to the point that by around 2010 the local council had gutted it and installed a power generator inside. The Spanish government stepped in with harsh words and the house was rebuilt in line with its historical nature, and it now houses the local library and tourist office. I should have photographed it but didn´t.
Instead in extras I´ve shown the palace of the dukes of Valdes (on the same square as that of the Hevias), a monument to the arrival of Carlos 1 (with behind it a third former ducal palace, now a residencia for the elderly, and to its left another fragment of the palace of the Hevias), a trio of street scenes of the calles Sol and Agua, which are the late 19th century extension to the old square, and just because I like the image, the old bakery in calle Agua. In the last photo, a street scene of calle Sol, you can see in the distance the white car  parked outside the Casa España that you can also see in the main photo.
I´ll show the frontage of the house of the Hevias another day.
