There is a long-running saga over wide gaps between the boards of my wooden floor, caused by the boards shrinking after installation, caused by them being stored in a humid rather than dry environment before installation, caused by the windows company (Ecovia) installing the windows months later than promised. Mostly I haven't been able to face dealing with it but I wrote to Ecovia four months ago. They requested information from the builders which, despite repeated attempts, I was able to extract only this morning, when the builder asked for photos of some of the gaps. Embarrassment meant that my floors had an unexpected sweep and wash before having their photo taken, and all before breakfast.

After breakfast I did three more bike runs to the Recycling Centre with 'building rubble': heavy chunks of concrete from the old greenhouse base. It's quite a workout, which reminds me that I still have some core muscles. It was my thirteenth weekly visit , though I usually persuade them to allow me two runs and sometimes three each week as my bike trailer carries a lot less than a car can.

A friend has offered to drive me there next week to take the final 10 chunks and it looks like I have now dug most of the glass and heavy rubble out of my soil so this might have been my last bike-trailer trek for quite a while.

Hurrah!
