Out and About

Book Club

I belong to two book clubs . This month they have caused me to read Thanks Fall Apart and The Time Keeper. Neither book  would I have chosen myself. Today we discussed Things Fall Apart . Written in 1938 it tells of tribes in Africa in the late 1800s before the arrival of The White Man and the impact on their belief system and their society structure of the arrival of missionaries. I noticed the book is still on sale in Waterstones today so its message has survived 90 years. It's the first in a trilogy of how life in Nigeria has changed since its tribal origins.  Very gritty reading. I'm not sure I'll read the remaining two .
The blip shows the books I have read since I last posted a display. Peter May was in my mind the best of the rest. I had to read Starling because it was written by a good friend, I was pleasantly entertained. Well done Sarah.
