Sunrise
After yesterday's foray into fungus, and getting knocked back somewhat I thought I'd head back to familiar landscape territory.
I'd made a note earlier this year to start checking the position of sunrise at Ennerdale around this time of year, I'd found a location on the cliff above Anglers Crag. The weather forecast good and consulting Photo Ephemeris it looked promising, sunrise at 07:32 and SE down the lake from my intended position. The only thing I could not determine was how the hills in the SE might come into play and shade things out.
Jess was enthusiastic as ever, alarms 05:30 and out of the door asap with winter gear and torches. It was 3C when we arrived at Ennerdale and when in our slightly precarious position with increased altitude and the windchill it was colder.
We hiked and climbed up into position with 30mins to spare. Then it was just a case of wait, finalise composition and hope the angles of the rising sun were correct. I setup on tripod with a 3 shot bracket at f16 focusing a third in hoping to get everything acceptably sharp and some sunrays.
This shot is an HDR merge taken 25mins after sunrise just as the sun was rising over the col, the lighting was changing by the second and I kept blasting away. Today was a day when things worked as planned...
Now to get back to those pesky fungi..
