Breath
Lovely weather today here, I spent a few hours in Skibbereen. Had to take Z's car for its NCT, but before that it was another funeral this week again.
Jerry, a lovely man, a former colleague, who had started working in libraries at nearly 60 years of age, having reinvented himself after his hardware store which he had run for twenty years with his wife and before that with his father burned down and didn't reopen.
His two daughters gave a very moving eulogy of their love for and pride in their dad, their anecdotes brought wry smiles and memories to us all.
Last night Z and I had gone to Skib to Jerry's removal service and had joined a queue about 20 metres long of people waiting to pay their respects, even though we arrived about 15 minutes before it was due to begin. When we left, the queue was snaking all the way down the street and round the corner for another bit. A well-loved man, a full life. He's in this blip (in the extras) on his last day at work, 5 years ago.
Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
