It was a greyer day today but the perfect temperature for sight seeing- at least I thought so! It rained in the afternoon and evening but other than a couple of episodes of fine drizzle we managed to avoid it. We had tickets for the mezquita( originally mosque converted to catholic cathedral). It was stunningly beautiful and we spent ages in there. There small chapels all around the perimeter, each one highly decorated. It would have been quite moving to see the blend of islamic and christian art and architecture, were it not for the circumstances of the conversion.
After that r an earlyish lunch in a small Middle Eastern place - good kibbeh. We spent most of the afternoon browsing in the shops and walking around the very narrow streets. I bought a bag and D bought a skirt and top. Bought a portugese custard tart and walked back to the apartment to eat it with tea. After some downtime we walked over to the restaurant for dinner . Mostly pretty ordinary food but we shared a delicious rabbit dish. The food overall has been the most disappointing part of the trip, but today’s was the highlight. Missed a spectacular downpour whilst we were eating
