Modern Images

I like the idea that two such attractive images can be made out of an element which has caused  a lot of loss and tragedy here in Sonoma county. Fire has been around since man. Learned to rub two sticks together but it has taken on new meaning in these days of climate change induced hotter summers. Firestorms aren’t new either but recent ones in areas where homes and hillsides meet have been unprecedented in their speed and severity.

The sculpture on the left is in front of the downtown Santa Rosa Fire Station. The print on the right is on the wall at Trail House and I'm so taken with it that I hope I can acquire a copy from the artist. They both indicate the destructiveness as well as the regeneration of fire. What burns is rebuilt or regrows stronger and better is the message they impart.

At least it is a lot cooler today and I succeeded in washing our bedding and wrestling the duvet back into it's cover. No easy feat. And I went to a pilates class where two cars backed  into each other in the parking lot, so it was awhile before I could get out of the driveway....

I’m publishing this early because we’re off to see if the neurologist has improved his communication skills…,
