Replacement
I was struck by the rather slow and laconic movements of these two workers as I stood at the bus stop. They were replacing some sort of guard around the bottom of one of the poles that support the overhead wires for the tram system. One of the guys had just kicked the previous guard into smaller bits after they'd taken it off (see the pile on the left), so obviously needed to rest by supporting himself against the pole. Their van was sitting just up the hill from where they are standing now, and when I came across the road, they were sitting in it. Perhaps having a cup of tea....Or regretting the demise of the nearby Greggs.
Early walk across to The Walk to get a bus. Meetings straight from 10 until 4 and then a rush to the train. Things went as well as can be expected in the circumstances both at work and also in terms of travel. The train was on time and not busy and although we were delayed by some roadworks just up the hill from the Tore roundabout where a convoy system was in operation, we got home in reasonable time. With the benefit of hindsight, a diversion via Dingwall would have been faster.
