Monarch...

………………………….....…Butterfly

The first butterfly I have seen in my garden for this summer.

She will have over-wintered and today she was extremely busy laying eggs on a swan plant.

Her tattered wings add an air of sadness - she gives life while her life cycle is nearing its end.

Sadly too, paper wasps are busy flying around the garden and they make short work of monarch eggs and caterpillars.

The extra photo shows the extent of her tatty wings.
