The Shire
I went out with the hill walking group again today. A nice easy 12 miles (19km) walk on a beautifully sunny autumn day in the far east of Shropshire. We walked along Wenlock Edge and then across fields and through woods around the small town of Much Wenlock. There weren't many opportunities for photographs (because the group seldom stops) but I liked this vantage point looking north over the town and towards The Wrekin.
It is believed that The Wrekin was JRR Tolkein's inspiration for Mount Doom in his Lord of the Rings trilogy while the surrounding Shropshire countryside is The Shire.
