Autumn at Naburn Locks.
A glorious autumnal day. Sunshine and up to 20C.
Housework put on the back burner and off we went with a picnic to Naburn Locks.
I hadn’t realised that the last time we visited was February. ( thanks Blip)
Coffee and then a walk along the riverbank.
Today it was like walking through a jungle.
Mainly because of the Himalayan balsam. Must have been 9 or 10 feet high and every year it has spread a bit more along the path.
Now dying back but noticed many bees and insects collecting pollen from the remaining flowers.
It is one of our favourite places, especially at this time of year as we love to collect conkers.
Not as many as normal but as usual came back with a bag full.
Now in a dish on the fireplace.
Unfortunately that gorgeous bright shiny colour doesn’t last long.
So peaceful there today, except for the greylag geese. I counted over 100.
One of the joys of being retired is that you can make the most of a fine day when one comes along.
PS.
Just got a message from our granddaughter Hannah to let us know she has now been officially promoted to Community Sister.
We are just so very proud. This is very very well deserved. xx
