Encyclopaedia Britannica
My blip sums up my afternoon…..
…..in the boot of the car are three cartons of books, one carton filled with sport autobiographies and other sport books. The other two cartons are mainly novels collected over many many years, some adventure books and other bits and bobs. In the back seat of the car are the full set of Encyclopaedia Britannica shown in my collage.
And why, well these book have sat in the bookcase (in the garage) since the day we shifted here, that’s nearly twelve years. So, they’re off to a Bookarama, run by the local Rotary Club.
Not all books have gone, the very old Boys Own Annual, Readers Digest WW2, and several others that have meaning to us. The other photo is shoes, I text daughter Janelle to ask if she wanted any books, she declined, I then said I’d possibly get rid of the recycled rimu book case. She replied no, use it as a storage and suggested putting shoes on a shelf - and I have, mainly our sport shoes.
We bought the Britannica Encyclopaedia (from a do9r to door salesman) when our children were in primary school and they were used initially….but everything is on line now, so not needed. I asked one of the organisers if there was any market for them, the reply was “they’re as useless as tits on a bull”….so we’ll see if anyone wants them, maybe just to fill up a bookcase perhaps?
