Trixie's Adventures

By TrixieTheCollie

Our time in Cornwall is coming to an end..........

Can you believe that we have been in Cornwall for almost 6 months and don't seem to have had a spare minute to do anything?............

For those of you who follow our BLIPS regularly will know................. we have homes in Edinburgh & St Ives. After living in Cornwall for more than 20 years, (my human has owned a flat in Edinburgh since 1991, which was rented out) in 2019 my human decided to make Edinburgh her permanent home.

Mmmmmmm....................... best laid plans and all that?!................ 2019 was a good year. Ann had adopted me as a 3 month old little Collie pup I was found in a hedge and wasn't microchipped?!, she had a great job as a self-employed 'meet & greeter' for short term lets, which meant that she could spend a lot of time training me to become a perfect pooch.

And then, in 2020, 'lock down' happened.................... and we were stuck in Edinburgh....................... and all of a sudden the capital city of Scotland, no longer seemed like the most desirable place in the world.

Four years on....................... the legacy of lockdown in a city still lingers on. It's the little things for my human..................... like not being able to go out for a meal without agree-ing to a 1.5-2hr time slot, not being able to go up to the bar, to buy a drink, but then getting a 10% service charge added to the bill, not being able to see a doctor not that my human has actually seen a doctor since 2011 but having to wait in a telephone queue for 40 mins and then only getting a telephone consultation for three weeks later, only being able to have one NHS dental check up a year, having to do absolutely everything 'on the app'???!!! The list is endless......................... We can't even take rubbish to the tip in Edinburgh without making an appointment first. WHY?

We have both had the most fabulous summer in St Ives. Obviously I am happy as long as I am with Ann, all my morning walks have been down on the beach. For the last 6 months Ann has been sea swimming 2/3+ times a week and I've gone with her.

Also, Ann has had a great job at the 'Harbour Pool Club' for 20 hours a week, she's also been doing Zumba a couple of times and week and also line dancing. OK she's not been to line dancing for a few weeks because she always seems to have other stuff to do on a Tuesday? Lol!!

Who would have thought that there would be more going on in a small seaside town, with a population of less than 11,000 people, than there is in the capital city of Scotland? But there is...................... So my human has made a decision that'll be a first then?!......................

St Ives is going to be our permanent home for as long as we're able to live here. Obviously, there will become a time when both of us can't manage the steep hills back to our house. Or manage the 26 outside steps to get to our front door, or manage the 13 stairs to get upstairs to our bedroom/bathroom, but for now we're both fit and healthy.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live, laugh, love.

PS – It's been raining for most of today but I still liked to have a good old roll around in the field.
