The Forest A-Fire

I wasn't going to lead with this, because in truth I took it late last night. Didn't offload it until this morning though, so I'm calling it valid, and I've got nothing else.

Today was fun; lunch with Cheryl, Gareth and Ivy, and then to the village hall where Fascinating Rhythm were doing a dress rehearsal for the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers Convention at the end of the month. Didn't feel right to photograph when they were rehearsing though.

Other than that it rained. So... Luke Jerram's "Tipping Point"...

This single image isn’t going to adequately portray the emotions it engenders… you really need composer Dan Jones’s soundtrack of the burning out of control fire, and the chainsaws, and the winds… but this is intended to represent the burning of our forests, and specifically how pension funds are directly connected to deforestation around the world.

It was hosted at the Bristol Botanical Gardens, and used lighting and steam jets alongside the soundtrack to make for such a visceral experience. It was savage!

The advantage of a wide angle lens is that hand held long exposure generally works, and this has allowed the feel of fire to permeate the picture. Thanks to RobBris50 for reminding me it was on, so that I could book in.
